To my devoted readers … and critics:
I have passed the 36K word point and started Chapter 17 of Renegade. That means I am either 42% or 36% complete, depending on the final word count. As I mentioned to one reader who asked, my speed is picking up a little the more I get into my traditional science fiction space exploits. The mystery stuff is slow and HARD!
I am also trying to increase my descriptive skills of people and places. As I mentioned, I thank the work of David Baldacci and even Lee Child for whatever progress I am making.
A completion date will have to be tempered by the need for at least two editors’ cuts and corresponding corrections. Believe it or not, that is always the slowest part of getting any book out the door.
As would have to be the case, several new characters round out the overall plot. Some may stay over time, but most of the new ones will not. Maybe one or two of the old ones will also go. You will have to stay tuned to find out.
My mood for being creative in science fiction and writing in general is affected by the weather for two reasons. First, when it is gloomy, I’m gloomy, and writing is harder. When the weather is nice and sunny, so is my disposition. However, in the latter case, so is my need to get outside.
Recently we’ve had some nice days. In fact, based on some new tree growth I’m seeing, Spring is early! Don’t know if that is good or bad. I only know that I am suddenly as behind in yard work as I am in writing. Enter the joy of having a tractor. We have a little over six acres of property here, and the normal ride-along mowers just don’t cut it. That’s why, for many years, I’ve had some sort of tractor to pull a big mower or shredder, as some call them. This picture is the latest tractor I have. Got it two years ago and it is both bigger and faster than the older one. Plus, it is just fun to drive. You can see some of the property I just finished mowing.

For some reason, this Spring has brought us a bunch of wildflowers. Among them are Texas Bluebonnets. I think they’re nice, but not like Lynne does. I could just mow them down, but she said NO! Here is a shot for those of you who like Spring growth. I took the pictures. They show some of my fine art qualities. Don’t gag!

I keep plugging along and am starting to get more excited about finishing this science fiction book.
I hope your Spring is a good one and that you don’t have as much yard work as I do!
As usual, if you have comments or questions, feel free to send them.
