Renegade Update and other Stuff

How is everyone doing? Has the weather been confusing? Is it Spring yet? These are all interesting questions that you can answer for yourself. In my case, I can’t decide what time of year it is. One day, it will be 40 degrees, and the next, 75 or even 85! I’m confused.

I did vote in the Texas Primary. Not telling who I voted for, except you might be surprised.

One major achievement is that I got our boat serviced and some repairs done in preparation for fishing season, which could start in May. One important fix was having a replacement welded on for an aluminum crossbar above the center console. I broke it a year ago when maneuvering the boat around my backyard and hitting a tree limb. Big tree, small aluminum crossbar. What could go wrong? Here, you can see a picture of the boat from over a year ago when the crossbar was still there.  We use the boat in the Texas bays around Corpus Christi.

Shoot, I thought I could say more about other things to avoid reporting on “tremendous” progress with Renegade. I have made progress, and I’ve passed the twenty-thousand-word mark and eleven chapters. That is about 20 % of what needs to be done.

To be fair, adding a mystery portion to the story has been more difficult than I thought it would. Also, given this is a new area for me, I’m trying to make every section work and link together.

In a related (mystery) topic, I’m reading the Reacher stories by Lee Child. I don’t think he is as smooth as David Baldacci, but his grasp of details (surroundings, sounds, etc.) is quite good. I’m trying to adopt some of that in my writing, especially Renegade.

Overall, mysteries are fun, but they take a lot of work! However, I’m close to leaving the mystery part behind and launching into my more traditional Space Opera stuff, which should go faster.

If you have seen anything from my not-too-often Facebook postings and Instagram, you may have seen the first picture ever made of Sif, the Arkon Red Warrior. I experimented with the AI Midjourney and came away with what I think Sif looks like in my mind. Then, I went a little farther and added a voice and facial motion. See for yourself Here.

What are you up to this time of year? Anything interesting? Let me know.
