I was recently asked what I do about writer’s block. To me, the term writer’s block refers to a point in the story development where you have no idea what comes next or what to do. Initially, I would take a break and go for a walk or do something else. However, I found that if I developed the characters well enough in advance (which I am still learning to do), the story just develops on its own. For me, writers block becomes more difficult in the re-write process. For a new fiction writer like myself, the editor has lots and lots of changes . . . or as she puts it, opportunities for improvement. I take more of breaks and even do a simple story board on a BIG white board when things get tough. I’m a visual person and seeing things helps me move on. Hopefully, things will improve as I go along.
